CERTIFICATES

If you are seeking skills development and employment upon completion of requirements, the certificate program will be your choice for an educational goal. Certificate programs consist of 18 or more degree-applicable units in your chosen major. The length of the certificate programs may vary from one semester to four semesters. Choose this pathway for professional training for creative industry jobs.

3-D ANIMATION SKILLS CERTIFICATE - LEVEL II

3D Animation Skills Certificate – Level II is a continuation of the Computer Graphics Certificate with emphasis in 3D animation software. This certificate provides the skill set required for entry level employment in the 3-D animation and modeling industry. The program requires a total of 15 units of which 9 units are in required courses. An additional 6 units must be chosen from the restricted electives listed below. Units earned from the Computer Graphics Certificate may not be used for the Level II certificate. Any advanced DART course may replace the introductory course DART 104 F if this course was completed as part of the Computer Graphics Certificate.

ADVERTISING AND GRAPHIC DESIGN — LEVEL I CERTIFICATE

The Advertising and Graphic Design — Level I Certificate Program requires a total of 16 units in required courses. A minimum grade of ‘C’ is required in each course taken.

COMPUTER ANIMATION/MULTI MEDIA CERTIFICATE

The Computer Animation/Multi Media Certificate Program provides the skills necessary to create animated and/or interactive projects for distribution on a variety of media, including DVD, web pages, videotape, and CD-ROM. This certificate requires a total of 30-32 units of which 20 units are in required courses, and an additional 10-12 units must be chosen from the restricted electives listed below. A minimum grade of ‘C’ is required in each course taken.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS CERTIFICATE

The Computer Graphics Certificate Program provides the skills necessary to create digital drawings, paintings and illustrations, building a portfolio representative of the student’s artistic talents and technical proficiency. This certificate is designed to help students find employment in occupations that desire entry-level skills in computer-aided art and design. This certificate requires a total of 28-30 units of which 24 units are in required courses, and an additional 4-6 units must be chosen from the restricted electives listed below. A minimum grade of ‘C’ is required in each course taken.

DESKTOP PUBLISHING CERTIFICATE

The Desktop Publishing Certificate program requires a total of 28-36 units of which 26-30 units are in required courses. An additional 2-6 units must be chosen from the restricted units listed below. This certificate program teaches digital publication design, building a portfolio representative of the student’s artistic talents and technical proficiency.

ILLUSTRATION CERTIFICATE

The Illustration Certificate Program consists of 33-34 units. There are a total of 24 required units and a total of 9-10 restricted elective units. This certificate is designed to emphasize concepts, strategies and skill development in order to facilitate the student’s portfolio presentation, which may be appropriate for a variety of careers in the Commercial Arts field, including editorial and advertising illustration, concept design and illustration for products, conceptual art for the game and entertainment industry, and illustration for the toy and theme park industries. A minimum grade of ‘C’ or better is required for each course taken.
