In Spring We Are Reborn / Renaceremos en cada primavera
February 15th, 2024 - March 20th, 2024About the Exhibit:
Pável Acevedo is the 2024 Artist in Residence at Fullerton College*, and the subject of this solo exhibition at the Fullerton College Art Gallery. Acevedo is an artist and printmaker from Mexico who studied at the Rufino Tamayo Plastic Arts Workshop and the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Oaxaca. Since 2010, he has lived in Southern California, and is actively involved in printmaking projects focused on social justice and educational awareness in communities of color throughout the region.
The exhibition, titled In Spring We’re Reborn/Renaceremos en cada primavera, will feature an immersive installation of woodblock carvings and prints, filling the gallery like a garden of artworks. The work explores themes of our relationship to nature and animals; cycles of life, death, and rebirth; mourning and renewal—all through the rich cultural traditions of Acevedo’s Zapotec heritage.
Pável Acevedo will be Artist in Residence at Fullerton College and will open up his practice to the community for viewing and engagement. If interested in joining Pável, the studio will be open for visitation from Monday, February 26th through Thursday, February 29th, 2024 in room 1028 from 8am – 12pm, 1pm – 3:30pm.
